Tape It, Washi It & Flip It

These Thinlits Card Dies make a WOW card before you even add anything to them!

But I DO like to dress them up a little bit. ;)

Here's the flip card I've been doing with my clubs the past week.

Tape It, Petite Pairs, I Am Me, www.dazzledbystamping.com

flip!

There's just so much I love about this fun card!

One thing I have to mention is that I love that SU! has been listing (in the catalog) the colors that are in the Designer Paper now.

I used I Am Me DSP here, which includes Basic Gray, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Real Red and So Saffron.

It makes it so easy to know what to pull out and work with. (I write these colors on the front of my DSP packs. So helpful!!)

Also, in case you can't tell here, I used the stamp set Tape It which mimics Washi Tape.

But I also used Washi Tape. I love mixing the two.

The Epic Day This and That Washi Tape has 2 of the colors from my DSP pack in it--Calypso Coral and Basic Gray.

How perfect is that?!

I'm not sure I would have figured out to put these colors together without the set...

and it's not a combo in the Color Coach.

But I sure love the way they look together.

So that's another place you can get your color inspiration--check out the DSP packs.

Even if you don't have those papers, you can still use the color combo.

Two more things:

Both the star and the pennant (front greeting) here are actually from thinlits that are part of the Card Dies set. So fun!

And the greetings themselves are from Petite Pairs--perfect for a flip card.

If you recall, Petite Pairs have an inside and an outside greeting.

Works great!

(By the way, have you signed up for the Lovely As a Tree Lovers Class or one of my Christmas Stamp Camps? There's still room! AND I added a picture of a card from each of those classes to my facebook page. Check it out and RSVP!)

Double the sweetness

I'm very excited to be able to finally share this card with you!

My friend and customer Courtney had twin baby girls a month ago.

Woo-hoo!! They're so cute!

I haven't met them yet--they arrived a month early and have to take extra precautions.

BUT--I finally saw Courtney last night and gave her the gifts from one of my clubs she's in.

This is the card we all signed:

Zoo Babies, Itty Bitty Banners, www.dazzledbystamping.com

I used almost every pink I have available. How could I NOT?!

This technique I believe is called the Retro Grid Technique. (At least that's what I knew it as when I first learned it. *Ü*)

Here's what you do:

  • Stamp animal images randomly on a piece of cardstock.
  • Position this piece on lines of grid paper.  Line up a ruler with the lines on opposite sides of the cardstock.
  • Using black marker, draw lines at every inch vertically and horizontally without drawing through the animals.  When you’re done, you should have a grid.

Note:  If you don’t have grid paper, you can just use your ruler and a pencil.  Make tick marks at every inch on each end of the card stock—vertically and horizontally.  Then use your ruler again and draw your lines with the marker by joining the tick marks.

Have fun making your own!

Congratulations, Courtney, on your sweet lil ladies!

I'll be back again tomorrow with the cool non-Christmas flip card I promised last week.

Fun Reunion

My family and I went to a reunion in Ohio for my dad's side this past weekend.

It was so nice to see family again--including my cousin Beth (few years younger than me) who has cancer. I hadn't seen her since she was diagnosed!

She lasted the whole time we were there but said she was ready to lay down when we were leaving.

I also got to see another cousin who, until recently, lived across the country. I'm not sure we even figured out how long ago it was since we'd seen her. I don't know, but it's been years!

And yes, she's younger, too. I'm the oldest cousin on that side.

Her mom last year said she wanted to see stamping sometime. So I even brought stamping projects!!

We had a great time, and my Aunt Paula seemed tickled that she finally got to try it!

We don't go down there often, and I don't usually bring stamping stuff....

But I think I have a new tradition.

Here's the card we made:

Zoo Babies, Four You, www.dazzledbystamping.com

I wanted simple so the kids could stamp, too. They were adorable!!

I brought my Stampin' Spots (can't buy them anymore). Then there was no problem with squishin' the stamp into the new firm foam pads.

You know who you are! ;)

The colors are Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango and Old Olive.

Zoo Babies is the set! It's so fun!

Here's another project we made. Several of you made this at my open house too:

Washi Tape tealight candles, www.dazzledbystamping.com

So cute and easy!

All you do is wrap Washi Tape around a tealight candle; add a little Sticky Strip to the bottom and adhere to a punched out shape of coordinating cardstock.

Are YOU aware there's a Washi Tape Class and/or bundle?! Click here for more details.

Perfectly Pinterest (yep, that's where I found the idea!)

Check back later....I'll have another cute sample with the Zoo Babies set.

Have a great day!

oh WHAT fun! (flip!)

I'm flippin' again!

...with my Circle Thinlits Card Dies.

I used the same stamp set and DSP as yesterday--Christmas Messages and Season of Style DSP.

But I made a few changes:

Thinlits Card Dies, Christmas Messages

FLIP!!

Thinlits Card Dies, Christmas Messages, www.dazzledbystamping.com

I also used the Stylish Stripes embossing folder and another piece from the thinlits die set.

I realize this is a "DUH!!!" tip, but the embossing should be done after running through with the thinlit; otherwise you'll flatten your embossing.

I certainly don't mean to question your intelligence! But sometimes I need those tips!! ;)

To attach these smaller pieces....2-Way Glue Pen or Tombow Multi-purpose Adhesive works great.

The front of the card uses the negative space of the arrows.

I just used my Paper Snips to cut out the shape of the thinlit that gets impressed into the cardstock.

That way I'm not guessing how far out to cut so it's even....I already have a line to follow.

If you don't quite know what I'm talking about, I don't think a picture will help very well....

You'll see what I mean when you make one yourself and look at the cardstock left behind.

And by the way, YES, Marcia, we WILL be making a flip card at your club--as well as all the rest of my clubs for awhile. *Ü* (Do you prefer Christmas or other?)

I have another (non-Christmas) flip card that we made at my workshop Tuesday and will be making at my clubs tonight and next Tuesday.

I'll share THAT one after THEY'VE all seen it. (You know I like surprises!)

Also on this card is one of our new Designer Buttons.

It's kinda hard to see, because of the light reflected, but the largest ones (3 sizes again in each Core Color Collection) have ribbed circles out to the edge.

You can see the ribbing best

  • in the picture in the catalog, pg 168 or
  • click the new buttons link and look at the large Pacific Point one in the container.

Reminder again: you get more thinlits in the set than just the one that cuts the flip card....

Deck the Halls n all that jazz.... (flip!)

Was that a line Lucy said in Charlie Brown Christmas?

When she wanted Schroder to play Jingle Bells?

I dunno. Anyway, I thought of her.

Here's my first flip card using the (Circle) Thinlits Card Dies:

Thinlits Card Dies, www.dazzledbystamping.com

Flip!!

Thinlits Card Dies, www.dazzledbystamping.com

I love this die!!!!!!!!

Have you ever tried to make a flip card before?!?!?!

Lots of measuring....cutting to a certain line....scoring to a certain line.....

NOT ANYMORE!!!!

This die does it all in one run through the Big Shot!

LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.

Thinlits Card Dies, Chalk MarkerOk, here's another close-up for you to see.

I chose this as my first card to show you, because I used the White Stampin' Chalk Marker on the flip side.

Kinda fun!

Here's a little more info you might be interested to know:

  • 2 1/2" Circle Punch fits this Circle Card set. (That's the Old Olive.)
  • The larger 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch is what I showed here--not the thinlit die that comes with the set.
  • To use the thinlit easily in your Big Shot, cut your 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock in half at 5 1/2". The thinlit does the rest--and it fits in a normal (A2) envelope.

Remember, you get more thinlits in the set than just the one that cuts the flip card....

Click here for all the images of the Label Card Thinlits Dies.

Don't you love the Candy Dots and the Old Olive Simply Styled Embellishments, too?

(clip n bow)

I also used Baked Brown Sugar for the card base, plus Season of Style DSP and Christmas Messages from the Holiday Catalog.

I adore the big bold greetings in the Christmas Messages.

Check back tomorrow for another flip card.

Have a great day!!

It's Scrat!

Remember Scrat from the movie Ice Age? (squirrel & acorn?)

That's who I think of EVERY TIME I see this stamp....

Tag It, RMHC, www.dazzledbystamping.com

What do you think?

Now what do you think the animal really is?!

Whatever it is, he's blowing one of those roll up horns for celebrating. Noisily. ;)

What's even more important is that he's part of this year's stamp set designed to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities. (RMHC)

Tag It

Tag It

Every time this set is ordered, $3 is donated to RMHC.

Plus, Stampin' Up! makes an annual donation to the charity. You can see more about this on the inside back cover of the catalog.

By the way, my downline Judi Siegers made this card.

However, she said she copied a sample she saw at Convention.

And I have no idea who made that.

Colors are Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight.

Fun!

If you want help out RMHC--and have a Scrat of your own--order Tag It!

By the way, I'm having fun with my Circle Card Thinlits Dies!

Check back tomorrow for one of my samples!

Have a great day!

Still Gorgeous

Yes! Gorgeous Grunge!

Here's another project we made at my VIP Party last week.

Gorgeous Grunge, Sassy Salutations, www.dazzledbystamping.com

I love the set. (Including Sassy Salutations)

I love the color combo. (Pear Pizzazz, Island Indigo, Pool Party)

I love the Candy Dots. (Black, Pool Party, White) Ann called them stickers. Do you realize they're available in all four Core Color Collections?

It's just cute.

I cut off about 1/2" of the card front for something different.

We attached a strip of white cs behind and stamped the stripes in Whisper White at the very bottom.

Fun & easy!

You can order online anytime.

Have a great day!
