Way to go!

Everybody needs a little encouragement sometimes!

We made this graduation card at my last couple clubs:

Bravo, Party Wishes bundle, Bohemian DSP, www.dazzledbystamping.com

It could have easily been for another other kind of encouragement, though.

I love the chunky font on this saying.

It's part of the Bravo set I used a few days ago.

And it IS retiring.

I have a quick tip for you that I've shared before...a reminder, if you will...

This set is photopolymer.

This stamp is bold.

When you have that combination, your results will be much improved if you have some sort of padding underneath your cardstock when stamping.

I typically use my Paper Piercing Mat; but I've forgotten it at a workshop before, and a few napkins underneath works great too.

(No, the color doesn't matter. They can be plain white, Christmas-y or Valentine's. :P I don't know who asked me that one time to give me a hard time, but I thought I'd address those concerns here as well. It was probably Abby or Courtney..... :D)

Oh--I just realized the other stuff on this card is retiring too!

Order now to get em while you can!! (while supplies last or thru May 31)

Have a wonderful day!!

I LOVE a good story!

Yes me. I love stories!!

Did you know that about me??

My favorites are about little kids or MY kids.

It seems I'm always telling them and love hearing them!

Well, this one starts with Christmas cards for Safyre.

Have you sent yours yet? Did you read the story?

Here's a link to that blogpost, if you didn't.

My sister Teresa texted me that they sent their card to Safyre, also saying Isabela (my 7 year old niece) made a picture of herself and Safyre in it. She labeled it "Isabela and Starfire." Then Isabela read what Teresa wrote in the card and wondered who was Safyre?

Haha!! Gotta love her!!

Teresa's great about telling me funny stories about the kids. She knows I love them, and I love HER for that!

Well, my project is really unrelated to my story OR Safyre--other than that I'm sure the kids would love this project. :)

It's a gift card holder we made at my Christmas Stamp Camp.

I found a similar one on Pinterest, and here's my version:

IMG_2013

Dontcha LOVE him?????

He's a bit more complicated than the penguin--or maybe I should just say a little more time-consuming.

An Oval Framelit was used (part way thru the Big Shot) for the snout.

Punches used were:

  • Tree Builder - antlers
  • Bow Builder - hooves
  • Decorative Label
  • Large Oval
  • 3/4" Circle
  • 1/2" Circle

The body is tall enough so you can adhere the gift card vertically with a little Tear & Tape or something like that.

Ok, well I hope all of you are doing well with all your Christmas plans.

We put our tree and stockings up, so that always makes me feel good.

Still have shopping, though. But I'm not gonna stress yet. :)

Have a great week!

Christmas Cards for Safyre

Last night I shared a story on my facebook page--a sweet little girl and lone survivor of an arson in her home has a Christmas wish.

All she wants is enough Christmas cards to fill her aunt's (with whom she now lives) Christmas tree.

Click here for the story on my page. You don't have to have facebook to read it.

I thought we could send cards.

Who better? Right???

I think she's gonna need more trees. :)

Just in case the link gets lost, here's the info you need to send a card (or several from your family or neighborhood.)

Christmas cards for Safyre can be sent to:

A TEC Plug

Hey--

This is just me being personal....

I want to remind you of a "youth retreat" my daughter Elizabeth attended a year ago.

Elizabeth, Katie, Gabi ready for TEC!

It's called TEC (of West Michigan), which stands for Teens Encountering Christ.

TEC is a weekend (Friday thru Sunday) focused on leading (high school) teens to The Lord Jesus Christ--whether as their personal Savior for the first time ever or for a deeper, meaningful relationship with Him.

MY description of it is an emotionally intense weekend.

Elizabeth has grown spiritually and has formed life-long bonds with so many people through TEC!

It's a very important part of her life.

She went once as a "candidate" (first timer) and has worked at 2 other TECs. (They typically have one 4 times a year.) She even gave a talk at her last one! She was amazing! (And she doesn't like speaking in front of people.)

The reason I'm telling you this now is because she's getting ready to work another one, and she's looking for others that might want to go, too. The deadline is coming up soon.

Remember, this is specifically for high schoolers....

Do you have a son or daughter or grandchild that might be interested??

I have to say that when I first learned about it, I didn't have a lot of information.

And I was skeptical.

But I quickly became very impressed with how careful the organizers are to protect and encourage each person who's there. Displaying Jesus' love and acceptance are keys to making the weekend work.

If you know someone you'd like to attend or you know might be interested, please let me know right away!

Elizabeth will be happy to share and answer any questions she can to encourage anyone to go!

Have a fabulous day!

More of my Hostess Appreciation Party (yes recipes, too)

Have I told you before??

I LOVE MY CUSTOMERS!!!

And I LOVE MY HOSTESSES!!!!!

Because of the extra commitment my hostesses make to me, I like to show them I appreciate them.

So from the beginning, 13 years ago, I started having a "thank you" event.

Sheltering Tree, www.dazzledbystamping.com

It's my favorite event of the year!

If you weren't able to make it, I'm sorry. We missed you!!

But I still appreciate you!!

I also appreciate my family so much for their help throughout the year--and at this event, too. I COULD NOT DO "MY JOB" WITHOUT THEM!! Todd & Elizabeth are always helping me set up for events.

A lot of the responsibility for these events has shifted.

Tyler used to always help me with EVERYTHING. For Hostess Appreciation, I think a few years, Tyler made most of the food while I was still busy prepping stamping stuff. He'd get done with school early and get to work for me. Now he's gone a lot.

For the past couple years, TODD has been helping in the kitchen. (He NEVER used to cook.) And he even took a half day off Friday to help out. (I didn't even ask him.) Thank you, My Love!!

And his stuff was a HIT!! His meatballs were FABULOUS!! And his Betty is always a crowd-pleaser. He made A LOT of it this year, so it wasn't gone in the first 5 minutes! :)

Anyway, I was asked for recipes. So here they are. If there's something I didn't include that you really wanted, let me know. I just included the "big stuff":

Click on the name to view/print the recipe:

Todd's 3 Meat Italian Meatballs

Steph's Spaghetti Sauce

Apple Betty

Banana Pudding

Texas Sheet Cake

Oh, and in case you weren't there, Tyler and Nate (one of my new sons) each brought me flowers to the party. I love them!! (the flowers AND the boys!)

flowers from Tyler and Nate <3     flowers from Tyler and Nate <3

They wanted me to combine the bouquets into a great big one. :)

Warms my heart!

Hope you're enjoying my blog bombing today! :D

I have one more for you--just in case you need a quick last minute idea.

See you soon!

A special night

Yes, I cried.

But not as much as I thought I might. :)

It was such a special night, and we met Nancy's other cousin/best friend, Sue.

It was good to be together.

We were also able to spend time with and comfort another friend of mine, Margie, whose mom passed a few hours before Nancy.

Here's our bouquet:

Build a Bouquet Project Kit for Nancy McCarty, www.dazzledbystamping.com

Thank you so much Fran, Sue, Courtney, Keana, Diane Bow, Nadine, Diane Field, Ruth, Sarah and Margie for helping build this beautiful bouquet.

I'm thankful I was able to spend this special night crafting and sharing with you.

On a business/project note....

I love the finished product, but I personally feel it's definitely one you want to work on together with others.

There are 5 different types of blossoms--and 5 of each kind (one of which has 3 blooms to each.)

We shared the work, and 11 of us worked on it a couple hrs.

It's a good way to spend time sharing.

Have a wonderful weekend!

And if you think of her, keep Nancy's family & Margie in your prayers.

Beautiful flowers

Getting ready for our Build a Bouquet "class" tonight.

Build a Bouquet Project Kit, www.dazzledbystamping.com

It's a little different than I had even imagined, because now the bouquet will be for Nancy's funeral, rather than her hospital room.

She passed away very early yesterday morning.

As Christians, we can take comfort in the fact that she is in a far better place.

A friend of mine shared this verse with me, Philippians 1:21 "For to live is Christ and to die is gain."

As a frail human being, I can say tonight will be kinda hard.

I'm a rather emotional person anyway.

But it will be good for all of us to be together--grieving, sharing, crafting and healing.

I'll try to remember to take a picture of our finished project.

For today, here's another Lotus Blossom masterpiece.

Lotus Blossom, Gorgeous Grunge, www.dazzledbystamping.com

I love using white craft pad as the first/base step of the 2/3-step blossom.

Beautiful.

Friendship...a sheltering tree

I like this set. It makes me smile.

Made this card for Nancy, so her club that she missed Thursday could all sign it for her.

Sheltering Tree, www.dazzledbystamping.com

By the way, did you notice in the Occasions Catalog, pg 22 (Sheltering Tree) the spokey-tent-looking-thing underneath the bicycle?

I had no clue what that was until I started working with the set.

How 'bout you?

It's the stem and bars for the bicycle--so you can change the color easily.

Love it.

Before I go, I wanna mention I'm having a FREE class this Thursday that I'm kinda sorta keeping a secret.

There's a specific reason, though, so if you're interested, go to my events (can click at the top of my blog) and look at this Thursday, 1/22.

I will be emailing people as well.

Have a fabulous week!

All about texture

Shawn turns 10 today.

His sister is one of my Sunday School kids.

HE has many health problems and has been diagnosed with Autism (or something similar) and is blind as well.

I don't know him well, but I DO know his mom and sister love him very much!! :)

I wasn't sure how much he understands about birthdays, etc., but I wanted to give him something that MAYBE he could enjoy in HIS way.

So here's my card--all about texture.

Endless Birthday Wishes, Project Life Point & Click, www.dazzledbystamping.com

Endless Birthday Wishes, www.dazzledbystamping.com

I hope he liked it! I know his mom--and I'm sure his sister--did.

I used: Endless Birthday Wishes, Project Life Point & Click, Red & Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, Stars Framelits, Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Pacific Point, Real Red, VersaMark and Black Embossing Powder.
